I'm not sure what constitutes an unofficial name.  If you search for NRPE,
an overwhelming majority of hits is on topic.  The official documentation
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/nrpe/NRPE.pdf (pg. 6) recommends putting

nrpe 5666/tcp # NRPE

into /etc/services.  Of course, I don't want to force this.  If it's
against some policy, just drop it.  I usually don't bother introducing
conffile conflicts for this port alone, but I'd consider it a nice touch
if it was provided by the package.
