Hmm, strange. Does downgrading work make it work again?

Good, at least there's one bit working.

Please give us the output of:
| cat /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf

I see no drm-related messages in your dmesg excerpt. In contrast, mine has:
| $ dmesg|grep drm
| [ 18.319903] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
| [ 18.944158] [drm] set up 7M of stolen space
| [ 19.380794] [drm] initialized overlay support
| [ 20.069536] fb0: inteldrmfb frame buffer device
| [ 20.069549] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730 for 0000:00:02.0 on
minor 0

Pas de DRM, pas de chocolat.

Mraw,
KiBi.
