Package: emacs23-common Version: 23.2+1-5.1 Severity: normal Please, check out this screenshot;
http://iki.fi/juhtolv/tmp/bugreports/VIPER/VIPER-bug_01.png As you can see, it shows two (u)xterms of quite common width (80 chars). That terminal on the right shows emacs-client in *Scratch*-mode. In that (u)xterm you can see "<V>" showing state of that VIPER-mode. But that left (u)xterm shows emacs-clients being in AUCTeX-mode and you just can not see state of VIPER at all! Here is another screenshot: http://iki.fi/juhtolv/tmp/bugreports/VIPER/VIPER-bug_02.png You see, even as simple mode like some E-Mail-editing mode makes that state of VIPER to disappear! I hope that statusbar of emacs running VIPER will be somehow re-arraned so that state of VIPER is always seen. This situation really fscking sucks: I am very often confused, in which state VIPER-mode currently is. I just can not live without that state of vi or vi-emulation clearly shown: When I use Vim, also it is configured so that state is always shown. BTW all my emacs-configs are available here, but I don't think they will help you very much while debugging my problem: http://iki.fi/juhtolv/configs/emacs/ -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers stable APT policy: (1100, 'stable'), (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (102, 'stable'), (101, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages emacs23-common depends on: ii dpkg 1.15.8.5 Debian package management system ii emacsen-common 1.4.22 Common facilities for all emacsen ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-6 Manage installed documentation in emacs23-common recommends no packages.
