thanks for the discussion on this problem. I have cleaned up the postrm script. For the matter about whether to purge or not the user, I think we should *never* remove the user from the system. Even if the user was created at ntop installation time, the sysadmin might have decided to share it across services. I do not think that displaying a warning at install time and asking the user to remember it is a viable solution.
