No change... Still not sure why the DRI ends up being disabled. :( Can
you try booting with drm.debug=7 on the kernel command line, starting X
and providing the resulting dmesg output (warning, there'll probably be
a lot of DRM debugging output, you may need to use /var/log/kern.log or
so to get all of it).


Also, if you feel adventurous, you could try enabling KMS with
radeon.modeset=1, but then you'll also have to make sure radeonfb is
disabled.
