Found the issue. It is a missing lookup key / version in the file /usr/share/pyshared/lsb_release.py, which belongs to the "lsb-release" package.
As a workaround, add:
'6.0' : 'squeeze',
...to the list of distributions in this file until we have a bugfix for
this. The bug http://bugs.debian.org/609325 tracks this issue.
