Hello, What came of the consultation with the release team? My understanding was that the current version of festival is set up to use alsa now by default; yet it depends on alsa-oss and oss-compat, forcing the use of old, inferior interfaces.
festival is the only package in the archive that depends on alsa-oss at all.
