Hi there. Well, basically, when I've the chance to test the patch, It simple wasn't working when the clock was drifted away longer than a few minutes (I couldn't establish that value). I've give it a quick look and the patch appears to be the same.
# strace -o ntpd.strace -f -s 1024 openntpd -d -f /etc/openntpd/ntpd.conf ntp engine ready [snip] adjusting local clock by 4230.743182s interval 0.000 skew 0.000 total skew 0.000 adjtime failed: Invalid argument [snip] adjusting local clock by 4230.753331s interval 0.000 skew 0.000 total skew 0.000 adjtime failed: Invalid argument [snip] adjusting local clock by 4230.757246s interval 0.000 skew 0.000 total skew 0.000 adjtime failed: Invalid argument [snip] adjusting local clock by 4230.762708s interval 0.000 skew 0.000 total skew 0.000 adjtime failed: Invalid argument Although It appears to be working with shorter diversions, I'll try to see if Darren (portable openntp respontable) is able to see the catch, and I'll push the patch to experimental for further testing.
