I have the same problem with my Ideapad u350. I am currently on unstable, but i had this problem since lenny was out!
Alsa Version: 1.0.23+dfsg-2 I recently found a "fix" for the problem. Simply add: "options snd-hda-intel model=olpc-xo-1_5" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and it should work fine :) Hope this helps somebody.
