Package: grub-common Version: 1.98+20100804-14 Severity: wishlist
Some sysctl parameters of FreeBSD kernels can only be set at boot time. With the traditional FreeBSD bootloader, you would define them in /boot/loader.conf. With grub, this is done by adding a line such as this one in /boot/grub/grub.cfg: set kFreeBSD.kern.maxswzone=67108864 The problem is obviously that /boot/grub/grub.cfg gets overwritten each time update-grub2 is run. The Linux variant of the package has this $GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX option in /etc/default/grub which gets included in the right places in /boot/grub/grub.cfg. We need the same sort of thing for kFreeBSD. If it's just a matter of patching /etc/grub.d/10_kfreebsd to handle a $GRUB_CMDLINE_KFREEBSD option in /etc/default/grub, I would be glad to submit a patch. But maybe this should be discussed first, or coordinated with upstream or whatever. Just let me know...
