Package: wnpp Severity: normal The packages require more attention than I have been able to give them, so I decided to step down as their maintainer.
loop-aes has an active and helpful upstream maintainer and quite a few users. loop-aes is a bit difficult, too. If you consider adopting it you should be aware that the kernel side remains an out-of-tree module with no visible merge perspective. The mount support required for loop-aes remains an unmerged patch against util-linux(-ng). This has been (and still is) tricky to integrate into Debian. It consists of these packages: Source: loop-aes Section: kernel Priority: optional Maintainer: Debian Loop-AES Team <pkg-loop-aes-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org> Uploaders: Max Vozeler <x...@debian.org> Standards-Version: 3.8.4 Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 7), bzip2, fakeroot Package: loop-aes-source Architecture: all Depends: build-essential, debhelper (>= 7), module-assistant, bzip2 Recommends: loop-aes-testsuite Description: source for loop-AES encryption modules This package contains source code of the loop-AES loadable kernel modules for Linux 2.0 - 2.6. It can be used with module-assistant, make-kpkg or stand-alone to build loop-AES module packages. . loop-AES can be used to encrypt disk partitions, removable media, swap space and other devices. It provides measures to strengthen the encryption: Passphrase seeds, multiple hash iterations, MD5 IV and use of alternating encryption keys. . Encryption keys can be stored in a GnuPG-encrypted keyfile, which allows the passphrase to be changed without re-encryption. Keyfiles can also be encrypted asymmetrically for multi-user access. . This package includes the cipher modules blowfish, twofish and serpent in addition to the default cipher (AES). . Modules compiled from this package require mount utils with support for loop-AES to work correctly. Such utils are provided in the package 'loop-aes-utils'. Package: loop-aes-testsuite Architecture: all Depends: make Provides: loop-aes-testsuite-v3 Description: test suite for loop-AES encryption modules This package provides scripts for testing the loop-AES encryption kernel modules. Source: loop-aes-utils Section: admin Priority: optional Maintainer: Debian Loop-AES Team <pkg-loop-aes-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org> Uploaders: Max Vozeler <x...@debian.org> Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 7), gettext, libblkid-dev, uuid-dev, libselinux1-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386], pkg-config Standards-Version: 3.8.4 Package: loop-aes-utils Architecture: any Recommends: sharutils Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, mount (>= 2.13-1), gnupg Description: Tools for mounting and manipulating filesystems This package provides the mount(8), umount(8), swapon(8), swapoff(8), and losetup(8) commands with support for loop-AES loopback encryption. . Purpose of this package is to provide users of loop-AES with extended mount support that is not available with the crypto patch in the 'mount' package. . On installation, this package diverts files from the mount package and installs versions with loop-AES support in their places. The diversions get removed on removal of the package. Package: mount-aes-udeb Architecture: any Section: debian-installer Priority: extra XC-Package-Type: udeb Depends: ${shlibs:Depends} Description: Mount utils for loop-AES loop-AES patched mount, losetup and swapon If someone adopts this, talk to me and I can share some ideas and experiences.
