severity 301239 serious tags 301239 + help tags 301239 + wheezy thanks Due the growing number of computers with build-in gigabit ethernet adapters, I discussed with Alexander (the maintainer of mii-diag) whether mii-diag should be part of Wheezy if #301239 is not fixed. We both agreed that mii-diag should not be released with Wheezy unless gigabit ethernet support is added to it.
mii-diag's former upstream developer seems to have stopped working on it a long time ago. It would be great if someone sends an appropriate patch fixing this bug to the bug's email address. If this possible patch is easily reviewable by the stable release managers, I think this bug should also be fixed in Squeeze in a stable point release; anyway, it's up to Alexander and the stable release team to decide if fixing it in Squeeze should be considered. I also think mii-diag should be removed from Debian after the release of Wheezy if #301239 is not fixed at this time.
