I’ve tested some more today, and strangely, I've not been able to reproduce it at all today (even in the same directory (the "git rebase --onto work work master" step), neither by doing exactly the steps you've made above, and neither trying to retrace my steps following .bash_history throws any errors today. I know I've have gotten some hard drive issues (lots of sectors crashed three years ago), thus it could have been the repo was partly on a broken block, which was fixed during today’s boot. As this might have been an local hardware technical issue, you might want to close this bug as not a bug, unless the error should never have happened in the first place, regardless of the health of the repo in question. /Carl
