There exist card versions of these controllers, so you could potentially plug one into any arch with PCI/PCI-e. I don't know if it works, but until someone says otherwise I think we should leave it enabled on non-Intel (but Linux) archs. > It does fail to build with kfreebsd-* so that should probably also be > disabled. It uses interfaces provided by the cciss driver. How are such devices supported in kfreesbd? Maybe the driver there has similar interfaces and could be made to work? Still right now the package uses the Linux kernel source for the build, so it's unlikely to build.
