I already started this task some time ago:
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/debian-xml-sgml/packages/docbook5-defguide/trunk/

The build system is probably not yet fully working.

Help is needed as the Debian XML/SGML group lacks manpower. If you are
willing to help, please join. Subversion only contains the differences
to the source. The source can be retrieved via uscan. For building I
usually use svn-buildpackage. The mergeWithUpstream mode has been set to
merge subversion contents with the source. If you need help with the
system setup just send me a note.

The packaging for docbook5-defguide should be similar to
docbook-defguide. This means, it also needs a self-written build-system.
Check out the buildtools/ directory contents.

There will be separate source and binary packages for DB4 and DB5. The
sources are in different VCS directories at upstream side and the
contents of both books of course differ and cannot be applied to both DB
versions.

Regards, Daniel
