Package: kernel-package Version: 9.007 Severity: wishlist Hi, I often find myself trying more than one kernel (the current one, plus "old"). It would be handy to have symlinks in /boot "rotated" among versions. In other words:
$ ls /boot vmlinux -> vmlinux-x1.y1.z1 vmlinux.old -> vmlinux-x0.y0.z0 if another -image gets installed the vmlinux-x1.y1.z1 is lost, thus: $ ls /boot vmlinux -> vmlinux-x2.y2.z2 vmlinux.old -> vmlinux-x1.y1.z1 vmlinux.old.1 -> vmlinux-x0.y0.z0 and keep a number of previous version specified by a variable in /etc. This of course would be optional and default to "no" but still useful, or be included in examples/. Something like examples/sample.posthook.sh. However I'm going to send such a script if you are interested. kind regards, filippo -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (600, 'unstable'), (550, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.13 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages kernel-package depends on: ii dpkg 1.13.11 package maintenance system for Deb ii dpkg-dev 1.13.11 package building tools for Debian ii gcc [c-compiler] 4:4.0.1-3 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.3 [c-compiler] 1:3.3.6-9 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-4.0 [c-compiler] 4.0.1-6 The GNU C compiler ii make 3.80-11 The GNU version of the "make" util ii perl 5.8.7-4 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction Versions of packages kernel-package recommends: ii bzip2 1.0.2-8 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc6-dev [libc-dev] 2.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Development Librari -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
