Package: kernel-package
Version: 9.007
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
I often find myself trying more than one kernel (the current one, plus
"old"). It would be handy to have symlinks in /boot "rotated" among
versions.  In other words:

$ ls /boot
vmlinux -> vmlinux-x1.y1.z1
vmlinux.old -> vmlinux-x0.y0.z0

if another -image gets installed the vmlinux-x1.y1.z1 is lost, thus:

$ ls /boot
vmlinux -> vmlinux-x2.y2.z2
vmlinux.old -> vmlinux-x1.y1.z1
vmlinux.old.1 -> vmlinux-x0.y0.z0

and keep a number of previous version specified by a variable in /etc.
This of course would be optional and default to "no" but still useful,
or be included in examples/. Something like
examples/sample.posthook.sh. However I'm going to send such a script if
you are interested.

kind regards,
filippo
