This is correct. Upstream was (at the time at least) not interested
to make INBOX prefix optional for personal mailbox names. And that
is what my patch was about; Making top level INBOX prefix optional.
The feature was activated by setting
IMAP_PERSONAL_NAMESPACE_AT_TOP_LEVEL=1 in the imapd configuration.
