As Alfredo was asking: I'm running i386 and was not able to reproduce the crash (using evo and an IMAP account). Looking through the duplicate reports of this bug, only x86_64 systems seem to be affected. So this might indeed be an architecture issue. I'll try to get access to a 64bit system and see if I can reproduce it there.
