thanks for the quick reply! Right now, I'm running NM in gdb and under Linux 2.6.37. Let's see what happens. It may take a couple of days to achieve a negative result, though.
It would be helpful, if you could also test the packages from wheezy/testing (0.8.3.*) and check if they are affected, too.
I'm a bit reluctant to mess with my system. Let's see first, what we can get out of 0.8.1. IMHO the issue is annoying enough to warrant a fix for squeeze in its own right. Especially since it looks like a regression to me. (I've never had this issue before Mar 15.)
