Package: initscripts Version: 2.88dsf-13.1 Severity: important
Shutdown (umount*) initscripts do not unmount /var/lock and /var/run when those aren't in /etc/fstab, but created by /etc/default/rcS with RAMRUN and RAMLOCK parameters. This happens atleast when using insserv depency based initscripts, even with concurrency disabled. I haven't tested old non-depency based initscripts after noticing this problem. Unmounting mountpoints under /var results fail in unmount /var try. So also underlying raid fails to go down nicely. Overall producting potential dataloss. Relevant part of /etc/default/rcS: TMPTIME=0 RAMRUN=yes RAMLOCK=yes CONCURRENCY=none ps. Why reportbug didn't ask including /etc/rcS even it is relevant and is created by initscripts package (not found by dpkg-query)? Because it is created, but not counted in.. pps. My changed tmpfs file changes tmpfs size. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'squeeze-updates') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.37.hyt3 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages initscripts depends on: ii coreutils 8.5-1 GNU core utilities ii debianutils 3.4 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii lsb-base 3.2-23.2squeeze1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii mount 2.17.2-9 Tools for mounting and manipulatin ii sysv-rc 2.88dsf-13.1 System-V-like runlevel change mech ii sysvinit-utils 2.88dsf-13.1 System-V-like utilities Versions of packages initscripts recommends: ii e2fsprogs 1.41.12-2 ext2/ext3/ext4 file system utiliti ii psmisc 22.11-1 utilities that use the proc file s initscripts suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/tmpfs changed [not included] /etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'/etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs' -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
