I guess you mean linking against it dynamically again instead of dlopen

Personally I don't use pcscd and it's still a recommends so another daemon will
be pulled in automatically when installing network-manager resp. wpasupplicant,
which isn't so nice given the majority of users most likely will not use it.

I checked the current pcscd package, and it doesn't seem to start by default *),
so I don't understand why the library package has a recommends and not a
suggests. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me tbh.

*) I has an "exit 0" in its init script which I think is rather questionable way
of disabling a service from not being started on boot.
