Thanks for the info.

As a side note, I used "$@" for dictionaries-common 1.10.9, but did not 
notice at that time that triggers are called as

postinst triggered "<trigger-name> <trigger-name> ..."

so "$@" does not work as I expected when more than one trigger is enabled. I
have just uploaded 1.10.10 that will use $* to work around that (I'd expect
$2 to also work).
