Did that. Doesn't work with 2.6.32-5-686. X just doesn't start, claiming it finds no screen. BUT o miracle it works with 2.6.38-2-686! So now I'll just have to find out why the post-2.6.30-kernels mess up my audio, blowing it up to 100% volume and keeping it there... then I can finally switch over to the brave new world. Still I'm puzzled about the 'malfunction', I mean I don't have anything like unusual hardware...
