We are still running 3.0.24-6etch10 on affected server ( we had two, on one all mechanisms using samba has been gradually depreceted, and after that we have just upgraded samba to 3.2.5 early this year ). On the last machine that uses 3.0.24 we have almost phased out smb usage, so we could probably upgrade/remove samba some time this year. Over the years, we have tried few new samba releases, but they all exhibited this problem.
