the current package of apticron is creating two different cronjobs during the installation. In my case the first cronjob was executed at 5:20 and the second one at 6:25. In previous versions of apticron the cronjob was generated, randomly. Why do you want use a cronjob at "/etc/cron.daily/"? This can not be good for the load of the debian mirrors.
