Package: ddclient
Version: 3.8.0-11.3
Severity: wishlist
File: ddclient

As bug #592927 says, the shipped version of ddclient is out of date,
and useful functionality has been added since then, in particular,
freedns support.

I have filed an issue upstream requesting a new release, but in the
mean time, perhaps you could use r111 or later? (Contrary to your
remark in #592927, a single revision number does make sense in
Subversion, as revision numbers are global to the repository: you see
hence that some packages which use unreleased code use a version
number like x.y-rzzz).

I tried using inadyn, which supports freedns, but it's not packaged in
a very user-friendly way, so for example it doesn't configure when
installed with dpkg, and doesn't have any auto-start-on-boot
facility. (Yeah, I filed a bug about that too; I hope it can re-use
ddclient's code for doing those things.)

Thanks for packaging ddclient, which has been doing dynamic DNS
happily for me for years now.
