this has worked Installation as expert (expert26) as usual. But you need to take care of two sound driver modules that will screw your system up. If you let hotplug auto-load the OSS driver for i810 cards, the kernel oopses (null pointer dereference). Before leaving the installation system, one should bring up a shell and say:
rm /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-386/kernel/sound/oss/i810_audio.ko The second trap is ALSA's snd-intel8x0m driver, which is somewhat broken. If hotplug loads it, you won't hear any sound because it keeps sitting on a semaphore. So get rid of it for the moment: rm /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-386/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0m.ko Lucas On 9/7/05, Frans Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Tuesday 06 September 2005 23:42, Lucas Szybalski wrote: > > Loading after first re-boot: > > PCI [O] > > ext3 [O] > > Computer freez,(segmentation fault) after instalation and when loading > > from hard-drive > > Trying a different instalation paramiters > > If the first stage installation went ok, that is not really going to help. > > > Screen shows: > > > > Call Trace : > > [<de1e5233>] i810_confugure_clocking+0xaa/0x419 [i810_audio] > > de1e4fba>] i810_ac97_init+0x325/0x4f4 [i810_audio] > > de1e59d4 probe...audio > > c0194905 pci_device_probe_static+0x2e/0x41 > > c0194937 __pci_device_probe+0x1f/0x32 > > c0194966 pci_device_probe+0x1x/0x31 > > c01d4763 bus_match +0x2e/0x4d > > c01d4838 driver attach +0x58/0x70 > > .... > > ... > > ... > > c0105f97 syscall_call +0x7/0xb > > Code: 8b 53 24 31 ff 83 7a 08 00 75 0d 66 83 a0 16 02 00 00 fb e9 > > /etc/rcS.d/S36discover: line 204: 975 Segmentation fault > > modprobe$MODULE > > > > Computer freezes.
