Hi, Just to report that I also suffer from this bug on my Hitachi Prius laptop under xfree86 (but not under xorg; however I cannot get the 1200x800 mode working under xorg - I need to use 855resolution to get it working under xfree86, but I digress).
The patch posted above (to /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/jp) does not fix the bug for me; however, the patch (to /etc/X11/xkb/keycodes/xfree86) posted at http://www.vergenet.net/~horms/ does fix the problem.
