Package: gosa
Severity: minor

User: [email protected]
UserTags: debian-edu

In Debian-Edu, we use GOsa with a template to 'create' new users.
When adding given and family name, a username is created by the
uid-generator:
               idGenerator="{%givenName[3-6]}{%sn[3-6]}"

Unfortunatelly it is not possible to modify the created username in
the very beginning, it's only possible to choose from a list provided
by the idGenerator (and modify several places (Posix, Samba, ...) later).

I found a workaround to modify the username, but it is rather
cumbersome:
 - Enter first and last name and click 'continue' (the 'Login' is shown after
that)
 - delete either first or last name again and click 'continue'
 - now, you can add the name you just removed and edit the login name

(Depending on the history when entering the creation mask, you might see
the login name field earlier, but that wasn't really reproducible...).

It would be great to implement the feature of editing the login name in
any case at the very beginning in addition to choosing from suggested
names created by the idGenerator.

Thanks,

        Andi
