Well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to give up my goal of producing a
perfectly working fix and just publish what I have so far.  I have
been able to get a stable interlaced display, but it is only showing
the even numbered lines (or the odd numbered lines, depending on whether
you start numbering the lines with 0 or 1).  I feel certain that there's
more work to be done on drivers/gpu/drm/drm_irq.c, but I do not understand
the design well enough to be able to make further progress.  I hope that
a kernel guru can take over from here and make it work correctly.
