No, we can't use an embedded version while a package exist for libprojectm2 in Debian archive [1]. In addition, I think this package is ok regarding the upstream source and project of libprojectm. And if clementine really need more patches applied on this library, we will be able to ask this to Matthias who maintain this package. For the moment, I could not find other person who has this issue. So I think it is a corner case that affect only some people. I will continue to inspect this issue using your backtrace.
