IMNSHO, pop-ups if at all should only be used as a last resort. They are very annoying, mess with the focus and the wait-for-user-input scheme is rather ugly for this kind of application. The "solution" is much simpler. If the "metadata" column is invisible it'll be added (and resized to some minimum width). However, I'm not happy with the current way this data is shown because it's far too much (some data is actually suppressed) to fit into a column. A dialog or whatever would probably be nicer. It should be available from all panes anyway. -- Christian
