Yeah, the problem wasn't in GNOME Activity Journal but in Zeitgeist. It has been fixed in the 0.8.1.1 release of Zeitgeist (but Activity Journal is still 0.8.0). If you check the automatic message the changelog is from zeitgeist and not gnome-activity-journal.
