I have done some testing with a couple of applications in the repository
that require libXm.so.2 and found that a symlink does not work very well.
$ xsol
xsol: Symbol `_XmStrings' has different size in shared object, consider
re-linking
Warning: Cannot find callback list in XtAddCallback
$ nedit
nedit: Symbol `_XmStrings' has different size in shared object, consider
re-linking
Segmentation fault
I did have success testing some commercial packages with a libXm.so.3
symlink, namely Xilinx FPGA Editor 12.1, Fluent Inc. Gambit 2.4.6 and
ANSYS 13 (display and lsprepost).
We still have package lesstif2 which provides libXm.so.2, so it is only
really libXm.so.3 that is a problem since libmotif4 replaced libmotif3.
I propose that libmotif4 provide libXm.so.3, libUil.so.3 and libMrm.so.3
symlinks and the dependencies updated to also "Provides: libmotif3".
