Package: scala-doc
Version: 2.9.0.1.dfsg-1
Severity: serious

Trying to work offline with Scala I've stumbled upon the problem that the API
HTML documentation shipped by scala-doc seems to be completely broken, at least
with graphical browsers. (Arguably: it is sort of usable with a textual web
browser, but in that case it is not easily searchable, hence the "serious"
severity. Feel free to downgrade if you think that textual browsing of the HTML
API doc is good enough to grant scala-doc usability.)

The b0rkage I see is different among webkit- and gecko-based browsers. On
webkit-based browsers (I've tried epiphany 3.0.4 and chromium 13.0.782),
visiting file:///usr/share/doc/scala-doc/html/index.html (or, equivalently,
http://localhost/cgi-bin/dwww/usr/share/doc/scala-doc/html/index.html#package)
first shows a couple of time the following error in a browser alert:

    UI Layout Initialization Warning

The layout-container "undefined/body" has no height.

Therefore the layout is 0-height and hence 'invisible'!

then terminates by leaving a completely blank page.

On gecko-based browsers (I've tried iceweasel 5.0) no error is shown, but the
final rendering is nowhere near what I see when visiting
http://www.scala-lang.org/api/current/index.html#package (which does work with
both gecko- and webkit-based browsers). In particular, visiting the local
version with gecko-based browsers shows no scrollbar, images, or other
navigation aid for the left column.

Thanks a lot for maintaining Scala; modulo this documentation glitch, it's a
pleasure to use on Debian.

Cheers.
