Hi, I don't think that we should "fix" that problem by dropping build-dependencies.
The fact that gem2deb is being extensively tested at build time is a very nice feature, and we should not break that. However, just for reference, we should probably document that it's possible to build gem2deb with a minimal set of build-dependencies if one disable the tests.
