Yes, the problem here is that "ip link show" provides information of
both the interface and the underlying (physical) interface. The latter
needs to be stripped if you want to query the interface.

These errors should be prevented in the script, however.

I have a fix ready and commited to the GIT repository and will upload
as soon as I'm able. The fix will be targeted at unstable. I will let
you know so you can retrieve it from the archive and test the package
out (should be installable in stable without any issues).

In the meantime, if you want, you can retrieve the fixed network-test
script directly from the GIT repository at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/ifupdown-extra.git;a=blob_plain;f=scripts/network-test;hb=HEAD

If you can test it and give me feedback I would appreciate it.
