I've researched some more and tried to find out what is the best solution here. As we must not depend on a database server package the installation will fail if MySQL isn't installed before this package is installed. But apparently aptitude installs the "Recommends" (mysql-server) thus solving this situation.
Unless there is an proper way to handle this without violating the policy there is nothing I can do. Sorry. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
