This needs to be copied to the bug, not just myself.

You script is missing LSB information, please see 
http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts
for information about what must be added to the init script for it to be
LSB compliant. Something like this:

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:          confluence
# Required-Start:    $remote_fs $syslog
# Required-Stop:     $remote_fs $syslog
# Default-Start:     2 3 4 5
# Default-Stop:      0 1 6
# Description:       Enable confluence .... blah blah blah
### END INIT INFO
