This behavior has been happening now and then since the previous bug was closed. It seems to be more likely to happen when there is some heavy network activity (using a torrent client for instance) while some time ago it seemed the opposite (little network activity seemed to trigger the problem). irqpoll seemed to minimize the problem in the past but not fixed it.
