Package: e2fsprogs Version: 1.42~WIP-2011-10-05-1 Severity: important fsck.ext4 fails with error: "fsck.ext4: symbol lookup error: fsck.ext4: undefined symbol: set_com_err_gettext". Since this happens on the root fsck at boot, the system is left in maintenance mode.
The error dos not occur with e2fsprogs 1.42~WIP-2011-09-25-1 in combination with libcomerr2 1.42~WIP-2011-07-02-01 (tested). The error is solved by upgrading libcomerr2 to version 1.42~WIP-2011-10-05-1, so I suppose this should be changed in the package requirements (tested). (I normally install packages from the testing distribution, but the e2fsprogs 1.42~WIP-2011-07-02-1 packages gives troubles in combination with dump/restore (for which a bug report is submitted and which is solved in the later e2fsprogs packages). -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (250, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=nl_BE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nl_BE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages e2fsprogs depends on: ii e2fslibs 1.42~WIP-2011-10-05-1 ii libblkid1 2.19.1-5 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libcomerr2 1.42~WIP-2011-10-05-1 ii libss2 1.42~WIP-2011-07-02-1 ii libuuid1 2.19.1-5 ii util-linux 2.19.1-5 e2fsprogs recommends no packages.
