Upstream has now a new GUI for bitcoin built on top of QT, so this bug is not longer blocked by #586129. I was able to build it on debian/sid without problems 1) apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential \ libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev \ libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev \ libssl-dev libdb5.1++-dev 2) qmake && make I wish to see it packaged in Debian.
