They seem equally unclear to me.  It might make sense to say something
like "where $arch is the name printed by 'dpkg-architecture
-qDEB_HOST_MULTIARCH' --- for example, i386-linux-gnu" or "where
<triplet> is [...]".

Care to write a patch?
