I can't replicate this behaviour: I tried datagram and stream /dev/log, and asynchronous logging in dnsmasq enabled/disabled and in all cases dnsmasq notices that the log connection has gone and doesn't loop waiting to flush the log. Any clues as to why your system should be different? Could you let me have a copy of your syslog and dnsmasq configs?
