Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-5
Severity: important

Having been running testing for a while, I found that a set of upgrades to
GNOME were now available in testing, and installed them, which should have
bought in GNOME 3. Following the upgrades, I found that I was now using GNOME
Shell, but that every second attempt to click on something caused an error to
be displayed, saying that GNOME had crashed, and that I needed to log in again.
Looking at the syslog showed something similar to the following, each time:

Nov 14 13:20:52 nilgiri kernel: [ 2622.908410] gnome-shell[3274]: segfault at
48 ip b6c6d982 sp bff6a530 error 4 in libcogl.so.5.0.1[b6c3a000+77000]
Nov 14 13:20:52 nilgiri gnome-session[3181]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-
shell.desktop' killed by signal
Nov 14 13:21:36 nilgiri kernel: [ 2666.882582] gnome-shell[3373]: segfault at
48 ip b6c61982 sp bfe02560 error 4 in libcogl.so.5.0.1[b6c2e000+77000]
Nov 14 13:21:36 nilgiri gnome-session[3181]: WARNING: App 'gnome-
shell.desktop'respawning too quickly
Nov 14 13:21:36 nilgiri gnome-session[3181]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-
shell.desktop' killed by signal

The first segfault caused the display to flicker, and redraw, after which
trying to click on anything ("Activities", the clock, the networking icon)
caused the second segfault and the subsequent error message requiring the user
to log back in again.

Currently the system is working reasonably well in GNOME fallback mode.

Following a conversation that I had on debian-gnome on IRC, I am using a Radeon
9250 AGP graphics card, with the open source radeon driver. I have included the
output from running "gnome-shell --replace" from within gdb, and the associated
backtrace. I am quite willing to poke around with this, although I am a user,
not a developer, so may need to have slightly more detailed instructions if
asked to do something...
