I believe the current behaviour correct, but will accept the change
to be driven by another flag. I've got no preference. (Note that the
current behaviour is consistent with ls, mksh Tab completion, etc.)

Cc'ing OpenBSD so we can, maybe, agree on which flag to choose.
If someone wants to bring in NetBSD, please.
