Maybe a half-installed local libwebkit or uzbl? The debian uzbl binary is not linked to libwebkit, only to the -gtk version.
Can you please post the output of: * uzbl -V * `which uzbl-core` * ldd `which uzbl-core` * ldd /usr/bin/uzbl-core For a starting, this may help tracking down the issue.
