Well, first time I ping you is more then a mounth ago. You had a lot of time to work on it and didn't. This is clear since you asked to take the source of one of already did packages. If you didn't the package, doesn't make sense you maintain it alone. What I suggest is leave him as maintainer together with a package maintaining team and you and maybe others could join the team and improve the package and source. This is very clear to me. hijack a package happens with the package already exists.
