Package: coreutils Version: 8.5-1 Severity: important Hi,
For some reason, sort generates temporary files in /var/tmp instead of /tmp. As /var/tmp is not cleaned regularly or on boot, this means that any left over files (eg due to crashes) will be left in /var/tmp forever. Also sort cannot use the data on subsequent invocations, which makes the persistence of the data meaningless. This bug is market as important because this violates the FHS. This would require a severity of serious, but IMHO the impact of this bug is too low to justify such a high severity.
