Package: desktop-file-utils Version: 0.18-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I´m NOT using gnome, i´m a FVWM-User, and there is the Problem, when i try to Open a PDF-file in Iceweasel or nautilus, this Programs always start gv instead of evince, xpdf or acroread. update-desktop-database puts /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache alwas gv.desktop at first in the line application/pdf. I found out, that there is also a file defaults.list in this directory, which should handle personal preferences to default-programms. But this file is ignored. So i found a this line " * Remove defaults.list stuff, it’s all in gnome-session now." in the changelog.Debian.gz from desktop-file-utils... So i can´t set defaults for every user on my machine. I can only set a default-application in ~/.local/share/applications/default.list for every user... And this isn´t documentated... It took me a very long time, to find that out. Remember, not everyone is using gnome, so it would be fine, if there is a possibility to find the information in the man-page, or better, put in again this stuff into update-desktop-file-utils. regards Jakob -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_AT.utf8, LC_CTYPE=de_AT.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages desktop-file-utils depends on: ii libc6 2.13-24 ii libglib2.0-0 2.30.2-4 desktop-file-utils recommends no packages. desktop-file-utils suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
